Rolex GMT-Master II
In sync with the world

The Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II is designed to simultaneously display the time in two time zones. Rugged and functional, it is the perfect timepiece for women and men who travel the world. The GMT-Master, unveiled in 1955, has been the privileged witness to the development of intercontinental travel since the second half of the 20th century, even becoming the official watch of Pan American World Airways, better known as Pan Am, then the leading U.S. international aviation company.

The Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II, as reflected in its functions and name, immediately recalls the universe of long-haul travel and time zones.

The GMT-Master, an authentic watch-instrument, has undergone constant evolutions to offer increasingly cutting-edge technical performance. In 1982 Rolex introduced a new caliber that allowed the hour hand to be adjusted independently of the minute hand and the 24-hour hand. To emphasize this development, the model equipped with the optimized movement is called GMT-Master II.

One instrument, several time zones

The design of the GMT-Master II is immediately recognizable by the graduated bezel disc available in a two-tone version-where the lower half symbolizes the hours of the day and the upper half, the hours of the night-with different color combinations. The GMT-Master II, with traditional hour, minute and second hand display, 24-hour hand with triangle tip, and bidirectional rotating bezel with 24-hour graduated Cerachrom disc, allows simultaneous reading of the time of two time zones: local time and reference time, or local time and the time of another time zone.

The latest generation GMT-Master II is equipped with caliber 3285, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. The quintessence of Rolex technology, it guarantees high performance at the level of precision, autonomy, comfort of use and reliability. It features the exclusive blue Parachrom hairspring and includes the patented Chronergy escapement. This movement boasts a power reserve of about seventy hours.

High-tech ceramics

The Cerachrom bezel disc is made by Rolex in a single block, using extremely durable ceramics. These hi-tech materials are virtually unscratchable and keep colors brilliant over time. In 2013 Rolex marked a breakthrough in the use of ceramics in watchmaking by presenting a two-tone monoblock disc in blue and black ceramic. A year later the Brand unveiled a red and blue Cerachrom disc-the colors of the original GMT-Master. To develop a red ceramic that meets its aesthetic and quality criteria, the Brand conducts novel and innovative research.

Over the years, Rolex presents other color combinations: brown and black in 2018, green and black in 2022-in a version with a winding crown and crown shields positioned on the left side of the case and date display at 9 o'clock-and gray and black in 2023.

Superlative Chronometer Certification

Like all Rolex watches, the GMT-Master II boasts Superlative Chronometer certification. This title certifies that every watch that leaves the Brand's laboratories has successfully passed a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its laboratories according to its own criteria. Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that accompanies each Rolex watch along with a five-year international warranty.
