Rolex Datejust
The importance of each day

A milestone in watchmaking history, the Oyster Perpetual Datejust was the first chronometer, automatic and water-resistant wristwatch to display the date inside a small window at 3 o'clock on the dial. The date numbers remind us that a day consists of 24 hours, and that it is up to us to make that day a date to remember.

"It is the pinnacle of science applied to watchmaking. In fact, the timepiece concentrates all the discoveries made to date."
Hans Wilsdorf, 1945

Since its creation, this model has continued to evolve, offering a myriad of aesthetic possibilities while encapsulating Rolex's know-how.

Cyclope magnifying glass

The embodiment of Rolex know-how

An archetype of Rolex's classic watch, the Datejust, launched in 1945, represents a concentration of all the Brand's major achievements up to that time. The timepiece confirms the philosophy of striving for excellence promoted by Rolex's founder, Hans Wilsdorf, who believes that advances in watchmaking must serve the progress of humanity. In a time of great change, the relationship with time is also transformed. Modern life is punctuated more by the passing of days than by the changing of seasons. The Datejust offers greater comfort in terms of readability and management of one's daily time.

The Cyclope magnifier
Optimized readability

Designed to improve the legibility of the date display, the Cyclope magnifying glass is both an aesthetic and technical signature of the Brand. This Rolex invention is patented in the early 1950s and first introduced in 1953 on the Datejust. Just like a magnifying glass, it provides better comfort in reading the date. Initially made of Plexiglas, since the 1970s it has been made of sapphire glass, like the watch glass.

The Jubilee Bracelet

The Jubilee bracelet
Comfort and elegance

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Rolex designed the Jubilee bracelet in 1945 specifically for the Datejust. Supple and comfortable, this five-row metal bracelet is an integral part of the Datejust identity and underscores the timeless elegance of this model. The Datejust is also available with an Oyster bracelet, or, in precious metal versions, with a President bracelet.

A watchmaking icon constantly reinterpreted

The Datejust has never stopped reinventing itself. With the variety of its variations, it expresses the excellence of the Rolex Manufacture in dial making. The wide selection of bezels-smooth, domed, knurled, or diamond-set-has enabled the Datejust to traverse the various eras in style while fitting perfectly with the personality of the wearer.

Celebrating the moments that make a date

The Datejust naturally becomes the watch of memorable dates. Day after day, its dial marks a meeting point between one's individual path and the passage of time. On the wrist of such prominent figures as Winston Churchill, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Martin Luther King, the Datejust spans the ages without ever losing its modern touch. Rolex Testimonials associated with the Datejust include legendary Swiss tennis player Roger Federer, Polish tennis player Iga Świątek, Swiss skier Lara Gut-Behrami, and Canadian singer Michael Bublé.
