The Perpetual 1908 in 18k yellow gold is offered today with a bracelet made entirely of this precious metal. Thanks to its original geometry, this seven-row bracelet marries sophistication and comfort, always with elegance in mind.
Rolex unveils a new metal bracelet, made exclusively for the Perpetual 1908 and named Seventh, on an 18k yellow gold declination with a deep white dial.
This unprecedented bracelet composed of seven rows of very small, slender, supple and comfortable, is entirely polished and reveals reflections of a richness that is unparalleled. Its design, reminiscent of the bracelets of some antique jewel-style watches, confirms the original spirit of the Perpetual collection, which Rolex designed as a tribute to the tradition of watchmaking.
The 1908 houses the caliber 7140, a movement at the forefront of watchmaking technology that allows it to display small seconds as well as hours and minutes. Caliber 7140 is distinguished by its Côtes de Genève Rolex-decorated bridges and openworked oscillating weight.
Tradition with a contemporary twist
The 1908 is inspired by one of Rolex's first Perpetual rotor watches and belongs to the Perpetual collection launched in 2023, which harmoniously combines the reinterpretation of traditional watchmaking style with the quintessence of the Brand's know-how and aesthetic heritage. This elegant and understated watch was christened "1908" in homage to the year Hans Wilsdorf invented the name "Rolex" to sign his watchmaking creations and registered the brand name in Switzerland. The 1908 stands out for its design where the simplicity of the display gives the watch its full force. It perfectly embodies the spirit of the Perpetual collection, the essence of which is to celebrate the noblest art of watchmaking.
This watch sports an essential dial on which Arabic numerals 3, 9 and 12 and faceted hour markers stand out. The hour hand is Breguet type while the minute hand is gladius. The small seconds counter is at 6 o'clock and is topped by the words "Superlative Chronometer" in a semicircle.
An elegant case
The 1908 sports a 39-mm-diameter case with graceful lines and equipped with a transparent case back that allows the aesthetic refinement of the movement and the rotations of the oscillating weight to be admired. The silhouette of the carrure lugs is emphasized by the slightly beveled upper edges, while the bezel is divided into two parts: a lower one with refined knurling and a convex upper one. The domed crystal and transparent back, made of virtually scratch-resistant sapphire, benefit from an anti-reflective treatment. The case, guaranteed water-resistant to a depth of 50 meters, optimally protects the movement it houses. In the presented declination it is in 18k yellow gold.
Caliber 7140
The 1908 is equipped with the caliber 7140, a movement entirely developed and produced by Rolex, unveiled in 2023 at the launch of the model for which it is reserved. This mechanical self-winding movement, a quintessential piece of technology, ensures high performance, particularly in terms of precision, autonomy, comfort of use and reliability. Caliber 7140 exhibits a curated aesthetic, particularly at the level of the Côtes de Genève Rolex-decorated bridges; this decoration is distinguished from traditional Côtes de Genève by the presence of a thin polished groove between each striation.
Caliber 7140 is powered by an automatic winding system with a Perpetual rotor. Thanks to the architecture of its barrel and the superior performance of its escapement, it boasts a power reserve of about 66 hours.
Seventh bracelet
The presented declination of the 1908 is paired with a Settimo bracelet. Of the new metal bracelet, made of 18k yellow gold, one immediately notices the finesse and elegance. When worn, it perfectly complements the wrist and provides ideal comfort. Thanks to its links composed of seven very small, slightly domed and fully polished elements, it gives a feeling of lightness. The Settimo bracelet, reserved for 1908, is connected to the carrure by a system of attachments, the subject of a patent application, and has an invisible Crownclasp clasp with a folding clasp.
Superlative Chronometer Certification
Like all Rolex watches, the Perpetual 1908 boasts the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015. This title certifies that each of the Brand's watches has passed with flying colors a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its laboratories according to its own criteria. These checks follow official certification of the movement by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC). Internal certification tests cover the watch as a whole, after casing, and guarantee its superlative performance on the wrist in terms of accuracy, water resistance, self-winding and autonomy. The accuracy of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer, therefore, is in the range of -2 /+2 seconds per day; the deviation tolerated by the Brand for a finished watch is far less than that allowed by the COSC for official certification of the movement alone.
Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that accompanies each Rolex watch along with a five-year international warranty.
